A Night of Metal Mastery with Mötley Crüe at the Hard Rock
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (Don’t) Ruin Asbury Lanes
Having gone to many punk shows over the years, you get used to the occasional cover song thrown into the setlist. Usually it’s something by The Clash, The Ramones, or The Damned.
Teenage Fanclub - Power alt-pop from Scotland
Teenage Fanclub and their jangly pop thoroughly entertained the crowd at White Eagle Hall. Their songs were catchy and everyone sang along. The best part was just seeing how happy they all seemed as they played. If this band was my neighbor, I would invite them. over for pizza.
From Toronto to Philly: Good Kid’s Sold – Out Night at the TLA
Matthew Sweet - The 90s and well beyond

Robyn Hitchcock - as British as ever
Armed only with his acoustic guitar, a harmonica, a cup of tea, and a glass of water, Hitchcock took the stage in front of the seated crowd (of approximately 400 people) at the grand old hall.
Paranormal Cirque III - scary fun and a hardy laugh.
There is so much more than music going on around us - and a wild big-tent performance is one example of something worth knowing.

Club Sumo I, 2, and 3
I have to admit that I do not know much about Sumo wrestling. I was so happy to find that Club Sumo would be holding events at White Eagle Hall. World Championship Sumo (WCS) oversaw the three events. All three tournaments were sold out and had a loud, enthusiastic crowd. While I’m not sure if the crowd understood the solemn nature of Japanese Sumo - but they truly supported their favorites.
Jeff Rosenstock - Frenetic, passionate, and a really fun time
It is my sincere belief that Rosenstock has fully tapped into the minds and souls of the late 20’s crowd. They grew up with Rosenstock’s music and he seems like he has captured the essence of growing up post 9/11 and trying to find their own voices and paths in the world. Beyond that - Rosenstock is just plain fun to watch.
The Feelies - a slow burn to chaos
Anyone who has seen The Feelies knows that you have to invest your time. They generally start slow, sometimes even as a different band called, The Willies. But don’t let the slow cooking fool you.
Dave Stewart - Half of the Eurythmics but 100% soul
The 1980’s were certainly made more interesting with the rise of MTV. The Eurythmics were part of that movement. Creating haunting melodies with catchy songs made for music that has lasted the test of time. Dave Stewart assembled a stellar band (of all women btw) and offered up a truly engaging evening of music.

As I stood at the end of the photo pit of The Brooklyn Bowl, I leaned over and asked one of my fellow photographers, “So, have you seen him before?” “No, have you?” “Yea.” So, you have no idea of what he looks like?” “No, why?” “Nothing. you’ll see in about 3 minutes.”
