THE BOUNCING SOULS COME HOME STOKED FOR THE SUMMER
On a beautiful summer night in Asbury Park, The Bouncing Souls returned to The Stone Pony for their annual Stoked for the Summer show. This year they were joined by Bayside, 7Seconds, Screaming Females, and Mercy Union.
New Jersey’s own Mercy Union started the night off as the crowd filtered in, and set the tone for the rest of the evening. They were followed by another band hailing from the Garden State, Screaming Females. Lead singer Marissa Paternoster was incendiary on the guitar and stole the show.
Hardcore band 7Seconds was up next, and the old school punk rockers showed they haven't lost a step. Kevin Seconds’ energy fed the crowd and launched the first circle pits of the day. New York punk band Bayside followed with a raucous set including a cover of Rancid’s “Roots Radicals.”
As dusk settled in, The Bouncing Souls hit the stage surrounded by friends and family. The crowd was in a frenzy from the jump as the Souls plowed through an awesome set of their classics plus a few songs from their latest album Ten Stories High. The band even did a mini acoustic set of “Ghosts on the Boardwalk”, “Favorite Everything,” and “Gone”. There’s nothing quite like Stoked for the Summer, and all the hopeless romantics and true believers are counting the days until next year's show.
The Bouncing Souls resume their Ten Stories High Tour on the west coast in October.
