HI-TIDE SUMMER HOLIDAY 2023 BLASTS OFF IN ASBURY PARK

The Hi-Tide Summer Holiday returned to the Asbury Lanes for two nights of surf, lounge and exotic sounds. For the first time in the event’s history, the entire lineup was made up artists on the Hi-Tide Recordings label, and included the return of legendary surf rock band The Ventures.
Night 1 featured Italian guitarist Surfer Joe, rock ’n’ roll quartet Televisionaries who were joined by the dynamic Les Greene, instrumental horror surf band Los Tiki Phantoms (who Hi-Tide’s own Vincent Minervino rightfully predicted would steal the show), and Russian rockers Messer Chups.
Night 2 featured the “reckless rock ’n’ roll revival” the Ichi-Bons, Canadian instrumental surf rock band The Surfrajettes, Japanese trio The 5.6.7.8’s (who appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 1), and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Ventures.
The Lanes were packed with an energetic crowd both nights, and the bands were all at the top of their game. Personal standouts this year were Los Tiki Phantoms, Ichi-Bons, and the 5.6.7.8’s. The event once again proved why it should be on a Jersey Shore music fan’s “to do list” next summer.
You can check out this year’s lineup on Spotify with the Hi-Tide Summer Holiday playlist.

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos. Michael is also a regular vendor at the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and can be found selling his prints at a variety of local markets.
