Omar Apollo Brings God Said No Tour to Forest Hills Stadium

Omar Apollo has been one of the most consistently evolving artists currently active, having achieved his breakthrough in 2018, from there he’s gone on to release well-received EP’s and further solidified his talents with his debut studio album Ivory which spawned his viral hit “Evergreen”. After previous successful tours, he’s returned once again with his sophomore studio record God Said No which he is currently touring. The God Said No tour is very much a progression of Apollo’s already considerably strong live show. Backed by choreographed dancers, LED Screens and an acrobatic stage show, Apollo’s visual imagination here greatly enhanced the emotion and intimacy of his new record. As a performer, Apollo exudes a tremendous amount of charisma and honesty which he delivered here in spades but also his raw musicianship was spotlighted considerably as well.

The setlist for this current tour delved into the new record effectively with newer highlights such as “Done With You”, “Less Of You” and “Against Me” sounding especially captivating live. Apollo also made an effort to highlight his collaborators as well on stage and he even brought out special guests in the form of Montell Fish who performed two of his own songs and Ruel who performed their song “Want U Around” together which resonated greatly with the audience. What also genuinely stood out about Apollo’s live experience was the sense of unity and inclusion expressed throughout. The message of unity and being oneself left a notable impact on the audience and it’s also a testament to the collaborative spirit of Apollo that his current live show felt completely committed to his vision throughout. Credit also to the growth in both stage presence and artistry from the previous tour as Apollo seemed even more confident and assured on stage and the result was a throughly engaging experience from start to finish.

As an emerging artist, maintaining growth and upward momentum can be a challenge at times. In the case of Omar Apollo thankfully that challenge has been met as the God Said No is his most immersive, soulful and accomplished tour yet. With his signature blend of honesty, artistry and a captivating live set to match, Apollo’s genuine starpower has been further solidified here. If there’s one thing for certain we certainly won’t be seeing less of him anytime soon. Be sure to follow Omar Apollo on all social media and streaming platforms for tour dates and announcements!
