Pearl Jam Electrifies Philly with Dark Matter and Timeless Energy
The “Gods of Grunge” took over the Wells Fargo Center in Philly for two sold-out performances for their devoted followers.
Pearl Jam, Seattle’s superstar band, is on tour to promote their 12th studio album, DARK MATTER - their fiercest album in the past 15 years!
The band poured their hearts and souls into the performance. Drummer Matt Cameron banged away with passion while maintaining rhythmic control of the musical blitz. Rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard’s unassuming style and focused precision provided the foundation for the diverse setlist, while bassist Jeff Ament flaunted his unique bass line riffs. This trio forms one of the most commanding and influential rhythm sections of all time. Lead guitarist Mike McCready took the audience through scales we never imagined could work in a song, proving he can still wail at the same elite level as he did in the ‘90s.
And then there was lead singer and frontman Eddie Vedder’s fierce vocal performance. His deep, unforgettable snarling voice was like a gritty locomotive powering down the tracks on a cold, dark night. The audience witnessed each member playing at their highest caliber, together pouring their hearts into every note.
Their ability to not only keep their legacy alive but also to create an incredible piece of work with DARK MATTER defies the typical lifecycle of a band. This was a brilliant night, with a brilliant performance, delivering an experience that flawlessly blended raw emotion with high energy.
