The Boxmasters Brought the Rock & Roll to Monmouth U.

The Boxmasters, which happen to be fronted by Billy Bob Thornton, have a long history of performing and recording. This evening’s performance showed that Thornton is more than a fabulous actor, as he kept the audience engaged with song and story. The Boxmasters were all stellar performers and showed that they know how to bring the rock and roll. And may I say - the sound at The Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University was fantastic! (Clean bathrooms too!!)

AI Says…

The Boxmasters were formed in 2007 by Billy Bob Thornton and J.D. Andrew. Initially, they started as a side project for Thornton, who is best known for his acting career. The band blends elements of rock, country, and pop, showcasing Thornton's storytelling abilities in their lyrics.

Their debut album, Boxmasters, was released in 2008, featuring a mix of original songs and covers. They followed up with several albums, each exploring different themes and musical styles. The band's lineup also includes drummer and vocalist Mike Butler and bassist and vocalist John T. Smith.

The Boxmasters have built a loyal following over the years, often touring and performing at various venues. Their music is characterized by its unique blend of genres and Thornton's distinctive vocal style. The band's evolving sound and engaging live performances have helped them maintain a presence in the music scene.

Born from an existential argument between Modernists and Postmodernists, I have found my home with the post-punks and those who love a good slice of pizza. I live in a world of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and the ever-elusive Decisive Moment. Punctum and Studium aside, I like to take photographs of people and things to see how they look photographed. While I miss both CBGBs and a cool place to bowl in Asbury Park, Punk is still whatever we made it to be. The Future is Unwritten, and I owe it all to Mr. Bradley and Mr. Martin. Let Us Now Praise Famous Men (and Women) and ask the Little Prince for his thoughts. Sometimes, I'm On the Road, but if it weren’t for the honor of the thing, I’d just as well walk. My loving wife supports this albatross of an obsession, and my kids put up with me well. BA, MFA, M.Ed., BCEA, Nikon, FUJI, Tri-X.
