Sunshine Blind Brings Back the Darkness and Light

Sunshine Blind is an American gothic rock band formed in the early 1990s. Their music blends elements of gothic rock, darkwave, and post-punk, often characterized by atmospheric melodies, haunting vocals, and introspective lyrics. The band was known for its energetic live performances and contributions to the goth and alternative music scenes.

The original lineup featured vocalist Caroline Blind, whose distinctive voice became the hallmark of their sound, and CWHK (Charlie Walker-Heilman Kraft) on guitar and production. Sunshine Blind released several albums, including:

  • "Love the Sky to Death" (1995): Their debut album, featuring ethereal and dark tones that established their signature style.

  • "Liquid" (1997): A more polished effort that further refined their sound.

  • "I Carry You" (2003): A mix of moody and powerful tracks, showcasing their evolution as a band.

Though Sunshine Blind disbanded in the early 2000s, Caroline Blind continues to create music as a solo artist, keeping the spirit of the band alive. Sunshine Blind remains a cult favorite within the gothic and darkwave communities.

The band reunited for a one-off in December 2024 at The Mercury Lounge in NYC.

Born from an existential argument between Modernists and Postmodernists, I have found my home with the post-punks and those who love a good slice of pizza. I live in a world of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and the ever-elusive Decisive Moment. Punctum and Studium aside, I like to take photographs of people and things to see how they look photographed. While I miss both CBGBs and a cool place to bowl in Asbury Park, Punk is still whatever we made it to be. The Future is Unwritten, and I owe it all to Mr. Bradley and Mr. Martin. Let Us Now Praise Famous Men (and Women) and ask the Little Prince for his thoughts. Sometimes, I'm On the Road, but if it weren’t for the honor of the thing, I’d just as well walk. My loving wife supports this albatross of an obsession, and my kids put up with me well. BA, MFA, M.Ed., BCEA, Nikon, FUJI, Tri-X.
