Sublime with Rome Bids Farewell to New Jersey

On a beautiful August night, Sublime with Rome brought its farewell tour to The Stone Pony Summer Stage for one final New Jersey show. The musical collaboration between former Sublime members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez, has decided to end its run later this year. And they showed their appreciation to the sold out crowd with a performance that easily was one of the best summer stage shows this season.

All of Sublime's biggest hits were covered as well as their own work from the past fourteen years. They even threw in covers of "Forever" by Lee Fields and The Grateful Dead's "Scarlet Begonias". Ramirez, who has done an incredible job honoring the legacy of Bradley Nowell, told the crowd he'd be back. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

Sitting on Stacy kicked the night off with a great set of their punk and alternative rock style. This was my first time hearing the Southern California band, and I definitely recommend checking them our wherever you stream your music.

Philadelphia's own G Love & Special Sauce was up next and as usual, the trio's infectious hip-hop blues sound did not disappoint. It's hard to believe that their legendary self-titled debut album came out 30 years ago, and they did not miss a beat on what was another great summer night of live music down the shore.

Sublime with Rome's farewell tour runs through the end of October.

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos. Michael is also a regular vendor at the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and can be found selling his prints at a variety of local markets.
