Wax Jaw Takes Over Wonder Bar

On a cold January night, Wax Jaw made their Asbury Park debut and set Wonder Bar’s stage on fire. Until their show announcement popped up in my feed, I had never heard of the post-punk rockers from Philly. But after listening to just three of their songs I knew I had to see this show. Led by the charismatic Shane Morgan, the band gave the crowd a set full of raw high energy, and included their latest single “Night Sweats”. The show also included strong performances from Asbury Park’s own Teen Idle and Loveseat Pete.

Wax Jaw is planning to release a new album later this year. Until then, go enjoy their EPs and singles wherever you stream your music. And if they play a gig near you, definitely get your ass to the show!

Michael Campanile

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos. Michael is also a regular vendor at the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and can be found selling his prints at a variety of local markets.
