Jerry Cantrell Brings His I Want Blood Tour to Starland Ballroom

Jerry Cantrell brought night two of his I Want Blood Tour to Central Jersey and rocked a packed Starland Ballroom. The set included a number of songs from his newest album, including “Vilified”, “Afterglow”, “Held Your Tongue” and the title track “I Want Blood”. One of the legends of the Seattle grunge rock scene, Cantrell made sure to include a number of fan favorites from Alice in Chains in his set.

A special moment was when he played “Hate to Feel”, a deep cut from Alice’s seminal album Dirt. The song, penned by the late Layne Staley, had not been performed by the band or Cantrell in more than 30 years. He spoke of how special this song is to him, and hopefully it remains a part of the show throughout the tour.

Cantrell was joined by Filter, who played a great, loud set which included some of their biggest songs like “Take a Picture” and “Hey Man Nice Shot”. The North American portion of the I Want Blood Tour continues through early March and is definitely worth checking out. And as always, don’t forget to listen to these great bands wherever you stream your music.

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos.
