DRKHRT Gets Loud in Asbury Park

I’ve been to some loud shows at Wonder Bar over the years, and last weekend DRKHRT definitely gave them all a run for their money. The group consists of Asbury Park music scene vets Paul Ritchie (The Parlor Mob/gods), Ray Beck (Mohican/slowdust), Gary Zampini (Gringo Motel/gods) and Chad Sabo (The Cold Seas). Their first EP Wild Dreams was released in 2023 and they dropped their single “Wake Up Your Mind” in 2024. Their unique style and talents were on full display and I am looking forward to what they create moving forward.

The night also included solid opening sets from Tango Machina and Manaaki, plus a stellar performance from best dressed ghost which almost stole the show. They are definitely a band to keep an eye on this year. And as always, go check out all these artists wherever you stream your music.

Michael Campanile

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos. Michael is also a regular vendor at the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and can be found selling his prints at a variety of local markets.
