Dinosaur Jr. Roars Into the Jersey Shore

On a cold winter night in Asbury Park, alt rockers Dinosaur Jr. blew the roof off of The Stone Pony as they celebrated the 30th anniversary of their album Where You Been. This was by far the loudest show I have seen at the legendary venue, and the sold out crowd enjoyed every second of it. The band's signature sound was on full display, and J Mascis had one of the most impressive amplifier stacks I have seen on stage. The set included "What Else Is New", "Out There", "Get Me", and "Get Choppin" from Where You Been as well as "Freak Scene", "Little Fury Things", and fan favorite "Feel the Pain". They finished the night with a cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven". The night included a stellar opening set by New York City's own Das Damen, who recently reunited after more than 30 years.

Dinosaur Jr. brings their tour to Australia in February and return to the States for the Shaky Knees Festival in May.

Michael is an Asbury Park based photographer of what life puts in front of him. He snuck his camera into a concert for the first time in 2011 when he went to see Soundgarden on their reunion tour. Two of those shots ended up being published in Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons to King Animal, and he has been bringing his cameras to shows ever since. He relocated to Asbury in 2019 for its rich music and art scenes...and to save on tolls! He is a big supporter of the local music scene and has become well known amongst the bands for his photos. Michael is also a regular vendor at the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market and can be found selling his prints at a variety of local markets.
