Montclair, NJ – NJArts.net is proud to announce that Lenny Kaye will perform at a benefit concert for NJArts.net on Dec.14 at The Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair. This will be a co-bill with the irreverent and literary alt-cabaret singer Tammy Faye Starlite

Kaye – the singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer and author who co-founded The Patti Smith Group and produced the landmark anthology album Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1868 – will celebrate the diamond anniversary (60 years) of his career by playing songs from various stages of it, reading from his books, and telling stories.

His latest book, 2021’s “Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll” explores 10 moments that changed the course of rock history. Copies of his books will be on sale at the event.

He will be backed by a band (musicians TBA) at this show.

Starlite and her dynamic band – including Keith Hartel, Ron Metz, Richard Feridun, Jared Michael Nickerson, David Nagler and Eszter Balint – will perform The Rolling Stones’ 1968 album Beggars Banquet in its entirety, and Mike Hunt Band co-founder Jill Richmond will make a special appearance. The album’s best-known songs include “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Street Fighting Man,” “Stray Cat Blues” and “No Expectations.”

Proceeds from the concert will enable NJArts.net to continue playing its vital role in the state’s cultural ecosystem, with quality, independent coverage of music, theater, film, visual arts, dance and more. Founded in 2014, NJArts.net became a nonprofit organization in 2020.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. at The First Congregational Church of Montclair.
