The Perfect End of Summer

The end of the summer can bring some people down, but not if they were at this event. The Stone Pony Summer Stage had three extraordinary bands to celebrate the last of the warm breeze and the hope of a great autumn. Tim Heidecker opened the show with some straight-ahead rock and roll, and then Snail Mail offered their introspective melodies. The highlight undoubtedly was Waxahatchee. Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield) and their crack band brought smokey vocals and gentle lyrics that pulled each audience member closer to the stage. This was a fitting end of the consumer Aspery Park summer and the beginning of Locals summer.

AI says…

“Waxahatchee is the musical project of singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield. Known for her emotive lyrics and blend of indie rock, folk, and Americana, Waxahatchee has garnered critical acclaim for albums like Cerulean Salt, Ivy Tripp, and Saint Cloud. Crutchfield's songwriting often explores themes of personal growth, vulnerability, and introspection. The project’s name is derived from a creek near her hometown in Alabama.”
