Sammy Rae Brings Powerhouse Performance To Stone Pony Debut

Having been touring consistently for the past few years now, Sammy Rae and The Friends brought their dynamic mix of soul, rock and folk to an electrifying and dynamic show at the legendary Stone Pony. Making their Pony debut, Sammy Rae and The Friends brought a tremendous amount of passion, heart and pure musicianship to their show which was consistently captivating and full of both intimate moments and thrillingly grand ones as well. As a band, their latest tour is labeled “Something For Everybody” and that motto most certainly rang true. The setlist ranged from jazzy numbers to full on rock cuts to songs inspired by folk and string music as the show truly ran the musical gauntlet to exhilarating and surprising effect. It’s a testament to Sammy Rae’s true musicality that each of these sounds felt seamless and the on stage chemistry between all 7 members was impeccable and never missed a beat. Credit also to the setlist’s spontaneous nature which included many highlights such as a rousing rendition of the Springsteen classic “10th Avenue Freeze-Out” which won over the Jersey crowd easily.

Throughout the night, Sammy Rae’s set incorporated a variety of emotions both joyous and introspective while also integrating the band’s genuine soul and blues influences as well. The most notable aspect of the show was the true sense of community and inclusion Sammy Rae created among fans both new and old and that sense of positivity truly left an emotional impact. By the time the band closed out with “Coming Home Song”, the room felt truly united in sincere and triumphant fashion.
