Michael Franti & Spearhead Bring the Love to Seaside Heights
On a beautiful summer night, Michael Franti & Spearhead brought their Togetherness Tour to the Jersey Shore as part of this year’s Seaside Heights Live. When Franti announced the tour, he said “I believe in the power of music to bring people together and in these crazy times we’re living in we need it more than ever!” And that is exactly what they delivered.
The group treated their enthusiastic fans to a great night of hip hop blended with funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock. The upbeat set included a number of songs from their latest album Big Big Love including “Meet Me When the Sun Goes Down”, “Big Big Love”, and “Good Life”. Franti interacted with the crowd numerous times, and ended the night with a fun acoustic medley in front of the stage.
The night started with singer-songwriter Trevor Hall & The Great In-Between. They entertained the crowd to a great set of their fusion of roots, folk, and reggae, and his diehard fans sang along with every word. The Togetherness Tour continues into the fall where Franti will be joined by Citizen Cope, Trombone Shorty, and Bombargo.
