Anyone in the 1990s who owned a car and a CD player absolutely had Matthew Sweet’s disk Girlfriend. Those songs, along with Richard Lloyd and Robert Quine's guitar playing, are deeply etched in the early 1990’s DNA. During this live performance, John Moreman does a fantastic job of reminding us of the original songs while also adding his very special sauce to the guitar parts.  A bonus was having Debbi Peterson, drummer of the Bangles, on the kit. Overall, it was a wonderful evening of music.  Sweet’s songs, not from Girlfriend, were very well received and showed with a talented songwriter Sweet continues to be. Other than a long soliloquy about Sweet’s love of cats along with his description of his available cat-themed artwork it was a night to look back on the 90’s and look forward to all Sweet continues to offer.
