Bendigo Fletcher Captivate at intimate Wonder Bar Show
One of the most enjoyable discoveries when it comes to live music is finding an act you wouldn’t have known about otherwise. Indie folk band Bendigo Fletcher came upon many people’s radar after opening for The Backseat lovers last summer, recently they returned to Asbury for an intimate show at The Wonder Bar. The band’s organic mix of soulful indie and folk were an affecting experience and their live chemistry was smooth and seamless throughout. Bendigo Fletcher’s unique approach toward musicality was throughly satisfying and each member brought something diverse to the table. The contrast of stripped down acoustic songs and full on numbers allowed the band’s range and versatility to be effectively showcased. lead vocalist Ryan Anderson brought a genuine warmth and sincerity to his performance and his solo numbers were truly heartfelt and resonated well with the audience. Throughout their set, Bendigo Fletcher brought enthusiasm, soul and a notable sense of craft to their performance. Credit also to their opener Free Range who delivered a strong and affecting set despite it’s brief nature. Lead singer Sofia Jenson’s soulful and introspective songwriting was genuinely engrossing and their backing band added rich layers to the material that helped bring it to life. Free Range’s strong mix of sophisticated songwriting and rich musicianship made them an unexpected yet satisfying addition to the show! When seeking out new artists, the ones that surprise you most are the unexpected finds and Bendigo Fletcher proved with their Wonder Bar show they’re an act full of strong and heartfelt songwriting with an equally accomplished band to match! With the addition of compelling indie act Free Range, the night proved to be an effective showcase of two emerging and distinct talents.
